Letterman.ai: One Click, New List: Optional Auto-Subscribe Between Publications

Letterman.ai: Let Interest Move People for You

Use cross-publication auto-subscribe where it truly fits

Here’s the pattern: you feature an article from Publication B inside Publication A.

When someone clicks that article link inside the email, you can choose to auto-subscribe the reader to B.

It’s controlled by a simple checkbox on the publication, and it’s optional by design. “Allowing people to automatically be subscribed… Some of you might not want to do that.”

The best part: the click itself already signals interest (dogs, food, events). You’re not “forcing”; you’re honoring intent and tidying your lists so people get what they came for.

“When they click the link to that other article… they’re telling you, I’m interested in dogs… we subscribe ’em to that publication.” Where this shines

  • Sister topics (Food ↔ Events; Pets ↔ Local Shelters).

  • Strong article signal (the B article already pulls clicks/comments).

  • Clean welcome path (B has a branded welcome email with a /current link).

    How to set it up

  • In Publication B, enable the auto-subscribe checkbox.

  • Feature B’s article inside A’s issue.

  • Click = subscription to B (and your link can still fire interest tags).

“As long as those publications have that little checkbox… auto subscribe… when they click… I am now subscribed to Vegas Fork.”
