OpenClaw Shadow Intensive Week 1: Building Our AI Foundation

How we set up our private AI digital office and taught our bots to talk back to us.

Why do we need a "private box" for our AI to work in?

We give our AI its own Windows VPS so it has a real desk to work at and stays safe from our personal files.

We started our first week by moving into our new "digital offices." Instead of just using a regular website, we set up our own private servers.

By using a Windows server, we gave our bot a space where it can actually open a browser just like we do. This means our digital helper can eventually log into our software and do tasks for us while we sleep.

This setup results in a digital worker that runs 24/7 without us needing to leave our home computers turned on all night. We also started our own WhatsApp group so we can share all the cool shortcuts we find along the way.

Can the bot really set itself up for us?

Yes, we saw this in action on Day 2 when the bot used a special "onboarding skill" to configure its own brain.

Usually, setting up high-tech tools takes hours of typing in confusing codes that make our eyes glaze over. But we used a new trick where we just talk to the bot to get it ready.

The bot learned how to set up its own API models, like Claude Sonnet and Opus, which allows us to focus on our business goals instead of technical hurdles.

We even gave the bot a "profile" about who we are and what our business does. This means our bot doesn't just give generic answers anymore—it understands our specific brand voice and what we want to achieve.

How do we run our business from our pockets?

We connected our bots to Telegram so we can send it a quick text or audio message from anywhere.

On Day 3, we finished the "handshake" between our servers and our phones. This gives us the ability to drop an audio file into the chat and watch the bot start a task while we are out for lunch.

We also learned how to use a special Chrome extension that gives the bot "hands" to click buttons inside our favorite tools. This results in a bot that can actually navigate websites for us.

One of the coolest things we found is that our bot is a "self-healer." If it runs into a glitch, we can use simple "doctor" commands to tell it to check itself and fix its own technical errors.
