Video Geyser Platform: Cloudflare R2 and Screen Recording Built-In

Why is Chad rebuilding the Video Geyser platform for our software suite?

Why is Chad rebuilding the Video Geyser platform for our software suite?

The upcoming application is being developed as a native video manager to insulate our video assets from the sudden suspensions and high fees of third-party platforms.

Vimeo temporarily restricted Chad's training materials after his usage went over their 2-terabyte limit, and they demanded a payment of $3,000 a year to keep the service active.

Instead of dealing with those outside corporate restrictions, Chad is resurrecting Video Geyser to give users a way to organize and stream files under their own control when it is ready.

The platform is being designed with landing page technology built right into the product so you can create a landing page directly from a video file itself.

We will be able to simply right-click on a video file inside the media manager to instantly generate a landing page with a custom headline and description, completely bypassing the need to build a separate page and embed the player.

How will Cloudflare R2 storage help manage video hosting expenses?

Video Geyser is being engineered to host and serve video files through your own private Cloudflare R2 buckets instead of using high-priced corporate networks.

An R2 bucket is a private storage location in Cloudflare that stores files, including video files, safely on the web.

The strategic benefit of this setup is that Cloudflare R2 charges purely based on the amount of data you store, rather than hitting you with data transfer or egress fees when people watch your videos.

If you want to look ahead at your potential monthly numbers, you can check your estimated data storage costs using the official Cloudflare R2 pricing calculator.

This calculator gives us a clear idea of what our hosting might cost per month compared to other platforms once Chad launches the system and hooks it into our dashboards.

What role do the newly planned screen recording features play in the platform?

Chad is planning to build native screen capture and sharing features directly into Video Geyser after an accountant audit revealed high software overhead.

An audit of Chad's business banking statements using an automated program called Claude Cowork uncovered over $2,500 in recurring monthly subscriptions across 47 different vendors.

Chad systematically canceled 20 unused applications, and since his personal Loom subscription was one of those recurring expenses, he decided to add similar screen-recording tools into his new platform.

While this screen capture feature isn't live on our dashboards yet, it will eventually serve as a massive benefit for any of us who want to record tutorials or client walk-throughs without paying for outside software platforms.

The developers are actively focusing on stabilizing the core software base first, and Chad will pass along the update details as the platform gets closer to its official testing phase.
